Bonjour,
Ok, I'm interested in this topic since i'm nearly a CIC guide (I only have to do my final exam, and pass ofcourse! ).
Can anyone explain what the real problem is with the BE's, like mine, from other countries? We are qualified, only not french. We use a lot of the same technics and it's not easy to become a cic guide.
I hear stories, like Franck already told, only 5 out of 35 passed the lps. All cic guides failed and some of the dutch cios passed wich is very inferiour to the cic. I heard a cic guide failed because the examinator wanted a knot at the end of the abseil rope for security. When he complained about that and he asked if he would have passed if he had made a knot, he was told he would have failed because of the knot.......
I think it is good to organize a LPS for the organizations or people who are not very known in France. But they do know the CIC! And they know we are good. We had only one fatal accident until know, compare that to all the accidents with french BE's. I'm not saying all french BE's are not good, I'm saying the CIC is not that bad as you think (or at least the examiners at the LPS, witch are probably mountain-guides.....).
So is it possible that the CIC-guides will be recognized in the future, because they have to (European law). Or will it just become harder since next year the new french formation for canyon guide will come. It has to become easier or do all the french organizations forget we are living in Europe?
Last but not least, I know some CIC guides who work in france and have never done a LPS. Are the rules different in every department? (Or maybe the LPS didn't existed when they started working).
Merçi,
Michiel

Salut,
Tu me corrigeras si je me trompe

A l heure actuelle

Bonjour a tous,
Excusez moi pour la response tardive. J'été au les Pays-Bas çe weekend.
Merçi beaucoup Franck for the detailed information. Could you give me some more info if you have got the time? Like when is the LPS organized? What will it cost? And most important will I have to learn all the french techniques or can I use the cic ones?
When did you did your LPS? And did you pass?
Indeed very cool to meet a CIC guide on this forum! There are not many I guess?
To bad you're not in the neighbourhood otherwise we could do some funtrips. Maybe I'm visiting Corse next spring. So who knows we can organize something?
Greetz,
Michiel
