The Teiflaui Canyon: translated (deep avelanche slot)

At the 28.08 Pascal and I finally realized the 1st descent of Teiflaui in the Berneroberland.
We failed last year due to the hard and technical Approach and mastered the beast this time using all our human power we had.

The Approach is the longest and most difficult one I have ever done for a canyon:
4h walk with 1200Hm of height elevation with 20-25kg backpacks. Then opening a rappel line 500Hm down to a grass band where we could traverse for 600m just facing the final abseils of another 150Hm.
After all that and in total 8h30min of walk, climb, abseil and fight against gravity we were at the START of the canyon.

The Canyon itself is very nice shaped rock, narrow (partially <60cm) and deep. Most of the 14 abseils were directly in the water. At the end of the canyon waits the last test Piece. A 150m waterfall which we spitted up in 45m and 105m.
After a huge effort and a total of 12h activity with almost no rest we finished the beast

The beauty of the canyon is definitely given and it is worth to do it. But who will do and repeat a canyon with 8h30min of approach to be for only 3h30min in the canyon?
Was that a first and last descent?

Pas de bol car sur cette approche ca aurait été vraiment l'idéal

8:30 d'approche pour 4:00 de canyon c'est pas une bouse rentable pour toi ça lolo !!!

C'est bien ça ! Pas grand monde devrait y aller, même si cela paraît très sympa ...

Helicopter would be perfect, only 5km distance from the station in Meiringen.
But after our big effort it is forbidden to take the helicopter

Il y a deux ans j'avais le meme plan, mais pour tout cette approche je commencais l'année passé de chercher une parfaite ligne pour une voie d'escalade qui mene directement au depart. Cette été pour une réalisation jamais météo assez stabile dans ce coin. Bon, maintenant c'est fait, pour moi ca ne vaut plus l'effort.

Mais pour repetitions je vous propose de continuer ce plan - rg par resauts 3a-4b jusqu'à la vire d'herbe qui mene bien au canyon: 400m d'escalade et 1.5h - 2h d'approche pour bonnes alpinistes. Cordes dynamiques fortement conseillés.

We tried the traverse and climbing approach last year. It is in total a 2.5km Long traverse with about 250Hm elevation gain.
60% of the traverse is very exposed on slippery grass, sometimes up to 70° steep with no belay possibilities.
We managed to do almost the half and had spent already over 1h30min and the last bit is the most exposed and technical one.
I would say it could be possible within 3-4h by using crampons and ice axes. But due to the lack of belay possibilities on certain places, is every mistake your last mistake .

Ben oui on a fait, moi et Holzi, cette ouverture... il est passé un peu de temps depuis mais j'ai pas encore réussi a bien comprendre...a metaboliser....à évaluer.

Pas d'experiences antécédentes de ce genre, ni pour moi ni pour d'autres.

Mais quand j'y pense , une lumière s'allume dans ma tete et un sourire surgit, il n'y a pas une raison et je ne la cherche pas; c'est pas les chiffres ou l'effort requis, mais c'est l'ensemble, le tout, qui en font un souvenir impérissable.

Ca c'est la Suisse et ces grandes surprises, ..qui ne sont pas finie.
