Hinterrhein Hinterrhein (Graubünden/Grigioni/Grischun)

Accès

From Ticino take the A13 in direction San Bernardino. Just after the tunnel exit and park just in front of the military area.
From Chur take the A13 in direction San Bernardino and exit just before the tunnel.

Approche

The best thing is to take a bicycle for passing the flat 4km of the military area so you save at least 40min of walking each way. Then walk up all along the hiking path in direction Zapporthütte SAC. From there continue another 500m until you reach the Rhein.

Descente

The descent is really fun and aquatic. A lot uf jumps and small slides are possible with some walking sections trough very nice washed gneis. The abseils are not high but sometimes in the waterstream. Most pools are deep enought to jump.
The end of the canyon is amazing. One side of the canyon is called hell and the other side paradise. When you pass trough this last narrow section you definetly feel in paradise when the waterlevel is not too high. The water looks dangerous and white as it will be always high at that point, but the abseils are possible without too much risk or even out of the water.

Retour

Walk for 300m downstream and then climb up to join the hiking path.
