Trümmelbach I Lauterbrunnen (Bern/Berne)

Attention ! Ce canyon est soumis à une réglementation spécifique. [> Plus d'infos...]

Accès

Go with your car from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. Expensive parking directly next to the train station, which goes up to Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. Take the train up to "Eigergletscher". If you combine Trümmel I and II, the train back starts from Wengernalp down back to Lauterbrunnen.

Approche

From Station Eigergletscher walk in east direction and take the path up to Rotstock. It is in fact the way down from the Rotstock via ferrata. Sometimes there are ropes in place to facilitate the progression. If you reach the small col / pass (where the via ferrata comes up) follow the path, which continues in direction to the Eiger summit. After some 30-40 m higher, traverse horizontally (south direction) until you reach the start of the canyon.

Descente

Small, but beautiful carved canyon at the start, there are following several higher drops (40, 30, 40) until you reach another nice carved section. At the end of the canyon, there is usually a huge permanent firn, which might render the last parts impossible. Exit is possible several times before.

Retour

If you only do Trümmel I, traverse right back to Eigergletscher. If you continue to Trümmel II, stay in the riverbed and walk on. The canyon is going soon back into a "mini-creusement", which is continuesely getting deeper and nicer until you reach the start of Trümmel II.

Engagement

Escape is possible several times as the gorge is not very deep. More a meander than a real gorge.

Période/caractère aquatique

Feasible in Sept. / Oct., if melting of the glacier above is minimal. If it's getting too cold, there might be ice and the canyon might be dry.
